Hunting/Sept 2011

Our last trip of the season to the White Mountains was in September to look for either a caribou or a moose to come home and keep us fed for the winter.  September in Alaska can be any kind of weather, and we had just about one day of every kind.  The trip was 4 days, and we ATV'd out to the end of the Quartz Creek Trail, about 20 miles in, and tented at our base camp.  The scenery was totally fabulous, and the trail was very challenging for me.  I had upgraded my tires, and I was very glad I did.

We found a place that looked good for camp, set up tent, and made dinner.

And the next morning woke up to a layer of frost on everything, brrrr......good thing we have an excellent tent, and warm sleeping bags.
